Office Visit

COVID-19 Precautions

My practice is open, and I am taking the following precautions to prevent the transmission and spread of COVID-19 virus:

  • I wear a KN95 mask the entire time that I'm in the office;
  • My treatment table, headrest, equipment and other commonly-touched surfaces are all disinfected for each patient;
  • Paper pillow coverings are disposed of after each patient visit;
  • Sheets are changed and laundered after each patient;
  • My treatment room is large, high-ceilinged and well-ventilated. I keep windows open and run a HEPA/UV air filter for during and between patient visits;
  • I schedule at least a half hour between patients to allow social distancing and keep hallways and waiting areas clear, and to give me plenty of time to sanitize and air out the treatment room;
  • I get a COVID test every week;
  • I have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Here is what I ask of patients:
  • You will wear a mask at all times while you are in the office, worn correctly and making sure your nose and mouth are covered.
  • I will take your temperature with a non-touch thermometer as you enter the office.
  • Stay home if you or someone you live with is sick and/or has experienced any symptoms of upper respiratory infection (including symptoms of loss of taste or smell, cough, fever, chills, headache, sore throat, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, muscle or body aches.)
  • If you have gone outside your bubble to an indoor social engagement (wedding, church, party, etc.) or if you have traveled by airplane, please do not come for treatment for at least ten days after exposure.
  • You might want to bring a light blanket from home. I keep windows open in the treatment room. I can heat the room pretty well, but you might like to have an extra blanket to keep yourself cozy during your treatment.

Your Treatment:
Chinese Medicine Pulse Diagnosis

It is best to have eaten sufficiently before your appointment, but not be overly full. If you have a morning appointment, make sure you eat breakfast beforehand.

Please wear loose comfortable clothing. With pants, it is especially important that they roll up to the knee.

After treatment, take some time to relax and return your daily routine gradually. The acupuncture treatment continues to re-balance the body in the hours after treatment. After treatment is a great time to take a leisurely walk and to eat a small meal. To maximize the treatment effect, avoid vigorous exercise, hot tubs, over-eating, drugs, and alcohol for several hours after treatment.

One treatment can have a strong effect. However, a course of treatments is beneficial when dealing with any long-standing health issues.

When companies do not cover acupuncture, many patients set up a health savings plan with their employer to set aside tax-free dollars for health services not covered by their traditional insurance.
